News Release: May 2008 Press Release: Bodycote installs world's largest hot isostatic press . . . again
Avure Technologies, Inc. has recently delivered a high-capacity Hot Isostatic Press (HIP) to Bodycote's Northwest
regional service center in Camas, Washington. The system was commissioned in late 2007, and is identical in size
to a HIP installed in Camas in 1998. Both units rank as the largest such presses ever built. The work zones of these presses measure 66" in diameter and 100" in length, with operating pressures up to 15,000 psi and temperatures of 1,260°C (2,300°F) to densify and eliminate internal porosity in a wide variety of industrial components. The newest HIP was designed, manufactured, tested and installed over a period of 21 months... Broad capabilities closely replicate commercial systems for easy transfer to productionKENT, WASHINGTON (August 3, 2007) Consumer demand for freshness in products such as ready-to-eat meats, wet salads, dressings, juices, and packaged fruits and vegetables has led to a four-fold increase in High Pressure Processing (HPP) production capacity in North America alone over the past 12 months. Food manufacturers are increasingly evaluating the potential of ultra-high pressure for the pasteurization of packaged foods and the development of new products and preparation methods. Nearly two decades of research has proven HPP to be effective in preserving a food's natural flavor, nutrients and appearance without heat or chemicals and little or no change in organoleptic properties. HPP inactivates food-borne pathogens and spoilage agents, resulting in a safer product and an extension of microbiological shelf life...Read More
News Release: July 2007Press Release: Purer Smoothies Arrive at Tesco Dundonald-based Barefruit Products Ltd has received a major boost from Tesco, who will be stocking the company's Puro Smoothies in selected stores across Northern Ireland. This unique range has been developed using advanced scientific methods to maintain their vitamin, mineral and fibre content. "Initially, we prepare all the fruit, blend and bottle the drinks at our Dundonald premises. We then transfer the bottles to AFBI where they are submerged in ambient water in a high pressure processing machine. This is how our smoothies stay fresh in the bottle for a shelf-life of more than 21 days. To maintain this longevity, other manufacturers pasteurise the fruit, by heating it to temperatures of more than 72 degrees, which can destroy precious Vitamin C by up to 30%." - Dr Margaret Patterson, Principal Scientific Officer at the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) .... LTD of Japan
KENT Washington (January 24, 2007) - Avure Technologies, Inc., the global leader in high pressure
technology, announced today that it's Vasteras Sweden operating unit has been awarded a contract to
build the world's largest hot isostatic press (HIP) by Kinzoku Giken Co. Ltd., a Japan-based contract
processor. The system is part of a two press order that will be used to support Kinzoku Giken's growing
hot isostatic press processing business in Japan, China and south-east Asia.Designated as a "giga-HIP" because of its tremendous size, the larger of the two presses will stand over 41 feet (12.6 meters) tall and weigh over 600 tons (550,000 kg). It will have an exceptionally large work zone with an inside diameter of 79 inches (2000 mm) and length of 165 inches (4200mm). The operating temperature will be 1350 degrees C and operating pressure will be 17,000 psi (1180 bar). The giga-HIP is scheduled for installation in 2009 at Kinzoku Giken's Himeji factory. The contract also includes an order for a second Avure HIP with a work area of 32 inches (820 mm) by 79 inches (2000 mm). This press is scheduled for installation in 2008 at Kinzoku Giken's Ibaraki factory and will include Avure's patented Uniform Rapid Cooling (URC) technology. URC will allow Kinzoku Giken to operate nearly twice as many cycles per day vs. traditional cooling technology enabling greater productivity and reduced costs. Together the presses will be used to densify large castings and to create parts from powder metal for the electronics, aerospace and petroleum industries. "Kinzoku Giken is pleased to award this contract to Avure Technologies." said Kazuhiko Hasegawa President of Kinzoku Giken. "Our experience with our existing Avure press and Avure's reputation for delivering on large projects gives us confidence that we will receive the highest quality system available so that we may serve our customers' growing needs." "We are honored to receive an order of this magnitude from Kinzoku Giken," said Pat Adams, President and CEO of Avure Technologies. "While it reaffirms our longstanding position as the leading provider of isostatic presses, it also reflects Avure's commitment to providing our customers the highest caliber technology, services and support. Our team is truly excited about the opportunity to assist Kinzoku Giken in offering their customers the ability to HIP treat the largest products in the world." The world's largest isostatic press supplied by Avure Technologies AB Sweden and its US sister company Flow Autoclave Systems
Inc has been successfully commissioned and handed over to their US customer. This MegaCIP system is used for the compaction
of powdered materials. The wire-wound pre-stressed pressure vessel inner dimensions are diameter 1.8m (73") by height
5.5m (215"). The working pressure is 138 MPa (20,000 psi) and the system can process 8 tons of powder material per batch.
The weight of the machine is 300 tons, which is only of the corresponding weight of a conventional non pre-stressed cold
about 50% isostatic press.Avure Technologies AB and Flow Autoclave Systems Inc based in Västerås, Sweden and Columbus, Ohio respectively offer a full range of cold and hot isostatic presses from laboratory size to MegaCIPs and MegaHIPs. Both companies are members of the Flow International Corporation group, the world's leading developer and supplier of ultra-high pressure equipment and pumps for waterjet cutting and surface preparation. From May 22nd to 25th Avure Technologies will participate in the international conference HOT ISOSTATIC PRESSING, HIP 2005 in Paris where the company will present papers on HIP Equipment Safety and HIP Process Economics. Avure Technologies AB and Smiths Aerospace Mechanical Systems - Aerostructures are pleased to announce that Avure's "QFL" series
Flexform press will be installed at Smiths' new Aerospace facility in Suzhou, China. The new facility, managed by Smiths' manufacturing manager Mr. Mark Simmonds, represents a milestone in the company's aggressive competitive strategy to produce high quality, lower cost formed parts. The new facility will compliment the existing production capability in the UK, allowing specialization of production in the most appropriate location. Avure's QFL series Flexform press will enable Smiths to produce a wide range of formed parts, many to finished specification without re-work. The press combines high cycle speed, 800 Bar forming pressure and simple operation to enable lower cost-per-part production than previously possible. Avure's UK sales manager Mr. Nigel Rogers commented, "We look forward to seeing our Flexform press in operation in China later this year. The competitive nature of the Aerospace market has driven the demand for lower cost formed parts to higher quality and repeatability. We have been very pleased with the reports from other users of our QFL series press, all of whom praise the reliability and significant cost-advantages it brings. We are sure that Smiths will benefit greatly from their purchase." Mr. Mark Simmonds commented, "Our new facility in Suzhou, China represents part of the Smiths strategy to provide our customers with a total solution inclusive of low cost sourcing.
